Spring 2006 Day of Sharing              Event Photos Click Here!

What a wonderful time we all had at the C.A.A. Spring 2006 Day of Sharing held in Jacksonville, AR. This was the largest cake related event ever held in the state of Arkansas! What a thrill it was to host Colette Peters and Nicholas Lodge together in one event.

There were well over 200 people in attendance. Many of those in attendance came from other states as far away as Washington, D.C.; Kansas City, MO; Austin, TX; Atlanta, GA, just to name a few.

The day kicked off with Todd Parsley a/k/a "Mr. Sam" (Sam Parsley’s husband) having everyone call the “Hogs” or Arkansas Razorbacks for those who don’t know what calling the “Hogs” means. Even the ladies from Texas participated. He then led the crowd in a short prayer, and introduced the host for the day, Sam Parsley the president and founder of the C.A.A..

Sam, then shared the agenda for the day, and introduced the first presenter Nicholas Lodge. Nicholas came out and wowed the audience with his great skill demonstrating gum paste flowers. He demonstrated several mind blowing techniques and completed a cake during the demo. The crowd simply loved his teaching method and appreciated the in depth details he shared. Once Nicholas finished his demo it was lunch time, and the stage was rushed by everyone opting for a photo with Nick and his sugar piece he created.

Keeping with Southern tradition, a fantastic Bar-B-Q lunch with all the trimmings was served on site.

Following lunch Sam introduced Colette Peters the second demonstrator of the day. Colette took the stage and never slowed down. She went from zero to 100 mph right before our eyes creating a stunning topsy turvey cake. She showed how to cover the cake with fondant, how to airbrush it, and then how to apply the finishing touches.

Once Colette had finished her cake, Chantal McPherson from the local Ronald McDonald house was presented the cake to take back to all the families staying at the Ronald McDonald house.

The day finished off with several drawings, and several lucky winners walking away with some wonderful prizes.

Many responses have been received since the event with some saying this Day of Sharing was the best they had ever attended anywhere.
